This is all that is left of a small unnamed town in Texas.

This is said to be the largest cross in the western hemisphere. There is a circle of statues around the cross that tells the story of Jesus. A very nice monument out in the middle of nowhere. Groom, Texas.

A leaning water tower that was built that way intentionally to draw attention during the Route 66 heyday. A marketing scheme that worked very well until the interstate came along.

Just looking for abandoned buildings and cars to fill up my photo albums. haha

Oldest known photograph of a tornado. Notice the 2 downspouts on each side of the main tornado. This photo was at a rest area which also provided a tornado shelter.

After several days on 2 lane and remote roads this is what we see after 5 minutes on the interstate! I was happy to return to the slowpaced route. And I certainly hope the people involved were ok.

The plains of Texas.

Restored station along the road.

Looking at hot Texas cows looking back at us.

A Texas windmill.

A view of the interstate in the distance. Sometimes it was closeby and other times it was out of sight and out of mind.

A Texas scene. It made me want to find a horse and just ride off somewhere.
